Seeking Normality

Trying to keep things as normal as possible seemed important this weekend.

We took a drive.

Stopped at UFA for fuel.

Lysoled the pump handle and key pad.

Stopped to watch some deer.

Let Henry hang out the window and wave at a herd of elk.

Counted them one-by-one as they left the safety of the tree line.

Made a big taco salad for lunch.

Read Robert Munsch.

Put in a load of laundry.

Watched some old home movies.

Found comfort in the ordinary.

But we’re still seeking normality.

We took a walk.

Listened to a podcast.

Stopped to look down mainstreet.

Shivered at its emptiness.

Panicked when we saw another walker

Lugging his suitcase and detergent to the laundromat.

Turned around to keep us all safe.

Had a luxuriously long nap.

Made a coffee.

Coloured a dinosaur.

Found comfort in the ordinary.

But we’re still seeking normality.
