Heart Stuff

Every night

I sneak into your room to watch

your little chest rise and fall –

I find myself thinking:

When did you get so tall?

Time went so slowly those first

few months. Now it slips by.

Our big ol’ world can be scary,

And it can be so cold –

life isn’t fair

This I know.

There’s hurt and danger out there

But what I can do

Is love you with all I’ve got

Christmas carols on

Take your little hand

Spin you ‘round and ‘round

I want to always remember

Your laughter’s beautiful sound

“Hi, Mommy!”

Hello son.
